Me and my girl (not the best photo, but it will do for now)
Hi, I'm Sonja. This year I will reach the big 40!! (Scary)!! I live in Plymouth, Devon where I was born, but I have lived in numerous places as I was brought up in the Army. I am married to a wonderful Welsh man called Neil and have 2 teenage children, Katie who is 17 and lives with me and Owen who is 16 and lives with his dad, he hasn't always but thats another story. Anyway it all works! Katie is my guru when it comes to fighting with things on this blog and she will also be my photographer. She is currently finishing A level photography, so she can take my pictures to earn her keep!
I am a qualified nurse by day and love to craft. I originally started with cross stitch and have learned along the way. I learnt to use a sewing machine at school, way back when they actually did that in schools and eventually purchased my own sewing machine a few years ago. I dabbled with it a little bit but mostly it stayed in it's bag hidden away. A couple of years ago I messed about making bags and things, which looking back aren't brilliant but hey ho, all part of the learning process! I also made some bunting etc which still hangs in my kitchen now.
Since my son moved out, his room turned into what is now my craft room. My fabulous hubster recycled our old kitchen units to make me a work station with storage, and every crafter knows you can never have enough storage! When it's tidy I shall take some pictures to share with you.
I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which sucks, but at least I know now why I've feeling so rubbish for the last couple of years! So, I have been off work for a few months, but needed something else to occupy my time, so I've taken up patchwork and quilting. I currently have 5 quilts on the go, and have been making quilted bags using jelly rolls for my family and friends. I have been reading so many wonderful blogs and decided to take the plunge and start my own. So that's me in a nutshell. Feel free to contact me if you feel the need. I'm always happy to hear from other crafty bods!
Sonja x
